Venusian Pitcherpod Studies by thomastapir Venusian Pitcherpod Studies by thomastapir
Studies for one particular lineage of "Dinoflora"--motile, plant-based "veganimals" from an alternate and/or past/future (terraformed??) Venus converging on terrestrial dinosaurs; in this case, sauropods.

That venous, disc-shaped feature on the neck or "shoulder" is a tympanum sensitive to atmospheric vibrations and changes in air pressure--the equivalent of the creature's "ear." The smaller, clustered, oval elements draped in sheets across the body are highly derived photosynthetic lenses adapted into light-sensitive organs--the equivalent of "eyes."

So many things I like about this, Tom! Initially I noticed the armor plating, which struck me as not only a cool design feature but quite appropriate! The second thing that struck me was the extended neck study, right under the main drawing -- such a cool pose! Third, I loved the way you gave it a quasi-elephantine stance with respect to the forelegs on the bottom two drawings. And finally, just as I was about to stop my list, I noticed the 'fan' tail - so awesome!
