Description
The same 3D model as [link] with very slight modifications, from several different angles. I was striving for something minimalist and elegant, something that might work as a sculpture as much as an organism.
It's funny, I was thinking that these resemble cliones and related sea snails more than their original avian ancestors...That would be an interesting case of convergence. I also realized that I may have been unconsciously emulating Louis Bec's "technomorphs" with the body design. He was a big influence on my thinking regarding artificial life.
I'm still not quite satisfied with these; I may do further variants with the body in its original orientation (that is, upside down relative to their current position, with the "flippers" on the bottom).

when I see these things, I think more of your early alien "mantis penguin" than nanomachine-derived Earthly penguins. entirely my fault.
