Description

Hypothetical fauna of Easter Island. I've always been fascinated by moai, via both "ancient astronaut" mythology and the many video games that employ them as a motif (secondarily borrowed from AA mythology, I assume). One of the ideas I've played with is that the Easter Island heads might be true representational portraits based on observation of posthuman time travellers. It would make for an interesting recursive causal relationship if the moai-like posthuman form was itself an aesthetic nod to Easter Island!

These could either be fully organic (modified humans and/or aesthetic/ceremonial GE constructs from a future or past superciv) or wholly synthetic organisms composed of a plastic, nano-infused silicate medium. Living statues! There is some overlap with the Ningen ([link]), so some of the same ideas posited there could also conceivably apply. I'm sure I was also influenced by the illustrations in this bizarre book I picked up a while ago but never finished reading: [link] As far as I could tell, there wasn't even an explanation for why the aliens look like moai!

I should clarify that of the two standing bipedal forms, the one on the left (the "Humoia") has legs but no arms, while the one on the right (the "Emoai") has arms but no legs.
