Lurking in the Bushes

Description

Dwarf rainforest Dinotank with soft, flexible tread scales mimicking ferns or palm fronds.  This track design distributes the animal's weight over a larger surface area, a distinct advantage when negotiating marshy environs.  The two lower sketches depict the tread scales "flared" for display or camouflage purposes, though traction or shielding the body from debris while in motion would also be good reasons to erect the treads.  To be honest, I originally pictured the treads in a default "flared" position--that top sketch just makes him look kinda droopy.  : /

Robert, this one shows how the tracks "docked" to the body can be selectively configured for other forms of locomotion--here they are partially rigidified for walking or running in a manner similar to Flex-Foot "Cheetah" prosthetic running blades.  I've also simplified the drive motor mechanism to something resembling a roller coaster or monorail track (still magnetically driven).
