Holotypical Transauromorph Studies

Another idea I've been working on for at least a month now--still not there yet, but I think I'm finally getting close! Concept is yet another take on the anterior/posterior bicephalization I've been playing with recently. In this case I was envisioning a more radical and complete metamorphosis, on the scale of a "biological 'Transformer,'" where the animal converts from a herbivorous to carnivorous form depending on resource availability. I also imagine some degree of adaptive atrophy or hypertrophy of the relevant organs...This would be a metabolically expensive transition, and again likely seasonal, with one head or the other relegated to a "powered down" mode of aestivation or hibernation for the interim. That transitional form may occur opportunistically during times of abundance, or during emergencies, or in the mating season, or just 'cuz it looks cool.
