Description

Symbiotic protector/mobility suit for a posthuman fetus, likely one of the transgenic denizens of Atlantis:

:bulletblack: Atlantean Envoys
:bulletblack: Amperimech

Considering that the inspirational organism here is a palaemonid shrimp commensal with sponges, I started thinking that maybe the Atlanteans deposit their offspring in massive bioengineered coral reefs protecting them from any potential marine threats.  Here the proto-Atlanteans feed and grow until they are ready to join the collective proper.  (Shades of the Yilane's "fargi," of course)

Also wondering if the "cradle"/suit is resorbed by or integrated into the embryo's mature form...?  A "security blanket" that becomes an integral part of the adult body, perhaps.

Reference photo of Thaumastocaris steptopus captured by Mark Strickland, off Richelieu Rock, Thailand.  Scanned from p. 193 of Helmut Debelius's beautiful Crustacea Guide of the World.

I'd like to think the suit's carapace begins to assume traits such as skin color and texture as it slowly begins to adapt alongside  it's host's biology.
