Cordycepossession

An image I've had in mind for a long time now, representing my personal perspective on the mechanism behind "spiritual" possession.

To wit, an opportunistic ethereal parasite reaches "down" from a higher dimensional space and interfaces with the electrical system of a vulnerable human target, commandeering the host's body like a preternatural Cordyceps fungus. Puppeteering umbilici stream from the parasite's domain into the chakra points of the host's astral body, enabling the invasive entity to seize control of its victim's nervous system. The Kirlian "devil horns" represent the distortion of the host's aura under the influence of the malign etheric parasite. The crown chakra at the top of the head remains open and unexploited, affording hope of redemption via the will of the host or benign intervention on the part of sympathetic denizens of the transphysical realm.

This is probably the closest thing to "religious" iconography I will ever publish. I'm not really in the mood to argue about metaphysics, my (mis)interpretation of these esoteric terms and concepts, or their appropriate role in the spiritual life of the Northwestern tapir. This is as much a visceral response to the tragic and sickening events of the past week as it is any kind of statement of belief.
