Aquatic Ape Propulsterous

Description

I guess I've still got primates on the brain--what the Buddhists call "monkey mind"...Actually this one is about 12-13 years overdue, in the sense that it relates to biological siphonic propulsion systems I imagined for the aquatic Chimerapes circa 2000-2001. To wit:

A - Outboard propulsion modules, attached ventrally at the pectorals.

B - Outboard propulsion modules attached dorsally at the upper back.

C - Integral thoracic propulsion system with intake ports at the clavicles. I know it totally looks like I'm ripping off Sarah Taylor or Aaron Beck, but this is actually one of the ideas I was working on 12 or 13 years ago...I think the configuration of the clavicles and trapezius muscles just naturally lends itself to this line of speculative (re-)engineering, if you're trying to integrate jet propulsion on an anthropoid frame.

D - Bad attempt to show the exhaust ports for the integral thoracic propulsion system, which I pictured being a kind of mobile block derived from the latissimus muscle cluster.

E - Another less-than-successful attempt to depict the exit ports, from behind.

F - THIS MONKEY IS NOT FARTING, which is a clarifying statement I never imagined myself having to make about something I'd drawn. This is actually a more successful depiction of the integral clavicle/latissimus siphon system, showing both the intake and exhaust.

G - I was thinking this system could also be used for vocal signalling both in the water and on dry land, as shown here by the agitated Ursullape. *

H - Integral biological siphons situated in a heavily modified, airframe-like lower body. This is basically an excuse for me to turn primates into exotic, Raiden-style jet fighters. In contemporary Tapir Industries terms, I think these designs are "mechanical" enough to be considered potential feral myoborgs or bioborgs rather than chimerical primates.

* I have never seen The Little Mermaid, but the overwhelming quantity of fan art on dA makes knowledge of this character unavoidable.

Will Scrap SOON SOON SOON......
